Yes. Intercity moves are priced per kilometre on our standard rates. Heavy old furniture travelling a long distance is packed and blocked more carefully, because it moves around in a way light modern furniture doesn't.

Of course, plenty of our jobs here are a regular 1 BHK or 2 BHK with nothing unusual in it. The almirah comes up often enough that it's worth explaining, that's all.

A week is comfortable. Give yourself longer if an almirah needs measuring against a new house, or if family members need to agree what's going. That conversation takes longer than the move.

Yes, if it's locked and empty, or we can tape the doors shut if the lock is broken and they swing open. What we can't do is move a locked almirah that might still have things inside, because the weight and what shifts inside are both unknown. A locksmith visit before the day solves it, and it's worth doing anyway so you're not locked out at the new house.

Older houses in the old town often have a steep, narrow stair to a first floor room or the terrace. Cots and cupboards up there usually come down in pieces, and anything that won't dismantle is measured against the turn before we promise anything. Occasionally a piece came up before the stair was built, and then the honest answer is a rope over the terrace wall or leaving it behind.
