Frequently Asked Questions

Where the Storage Actually Is, Which Nobody Else Tells You

Our storage is in Bangalore. That's the whole answer and it's worth putting first, because storage is the service most often advertised nationally by companies that don't have any, and you find out where the unit really is after your goods are already in it.

If you're moving within Bangalore or into or out of Bangalore, storage is a straightforward part of the job. If you're moving between two other cities, be direct with us about what you need and we'll be direct about whether holding your goods in Bangalore makes any sense, because usually it doesn't.

We'd rather turn down a storage booking than take one that means your household sits four hundred kilometres from where you'll eventually want it. That has happened to people and the second leg costs more than the storage did.

The Three Honest Answers to a Gap Between Houses

Storage is only one of them, and it's often not the best one. The first is to pay for a few extra days where you are, or ask the new landlord for the keys early. It's frequently the cheapest option overall and almost nobody costs it out properly before booking a unit.

The second is to move twice, out to a relative or a friend and then on. This is nearly always the most expensive and it's the hardest on your things, because every extra handling is another chance for something to break. People choose it because it feels free, and it isn't.

The third is storage, and for a gap beyond about three days it's usually right. Under three days it rarely justifies the double handling, and we'll say so rather than sell you a unit you don't need.

How Goods Should Go Into Storage, and What Ruins Them

Everything is inventoried and numbered before it goes in, the load is sealed, and you keep a copy of the list. Photograph your copy as well. Weeks later nobody remembers what went into a unit, and that numbered list is the only thing that makes the far end checkable rather than a matter of opinion.

The risk in storage isn't handling, it's time and climate. Damp and heat are what damage goods sitting still, so mattresses, upholstery, electronics and anything old and wooden want proper wrapping rather than a blanket thrown over them. A monsoon month in storage is a different proposition from a dry fortnight and it should be packed as one.

Get the rate as a defined period rather than an open ended arrangement. Open ended is how a two week booking quietly becomes a three month bill, and the person it surprises is always the customer. Ask what happens if you overrun, and ask before you sign rather than after.

The Mistake That Costs the Most

Storing things you haven't decided about. If it goes into a unit undecided, it comes out undecided, and in between you've paid rent on furniture you were always going to give away. This is the single most expensive error available in a two stage move and it's entirely avoidable with a weekend of sorting.

So sort before the storage, never after. It shrinks the load, which shrinks the unit, which shrinks the bill for however many months it turns out to be.

And budget for two moves rather than one. People plan the move into storage carefully and treat the move out as a cheap delivery, and it isn't, it's a second full job with a second full crew. Book both legs at the same time even if the second date has to shift later, because the leg booked in a hurry is the leg that goes wrong.

What Warehouse & Storage Costs

JobPriceWhat decides it
2 BHK household into storage₹6,000 – ₹10,500This is the move in. Storage itself is quoted as a defined period at a stated rate.
Second leg, out of storage into the new house₹6,000 – ₹10,500A full second job, not a delivery. Budget both legs from the start.
Gap of a day or two, moved straight through₹3,500 – ₹6,500Usually cheaper than storing. We will tell you when a unit is not worth it.
3 BHK held while a handover slips₹9,000 – ₹16,000Wrapping matters more than usual here. Damp is the risk, not handling.
Single room or a few items held briefly₹2,999 onwardsOften the case where paying for a room somewhere works out cheaper. Ask.
Old timber or upholstered furniture through a monsoon monthAfter SurveyNeeds proper wrapping and a look first. Climate does the damage, not the move.

Local moves start at ₹2,999. Interstate work is charged on distance bands of ₹15 to ₹28 per KM depending on the distance, quoted separately from the load so you can see both figures.

What Warehouse & Storage Does Not Include

Worth reading before you book. A mover who tells you this afterwards has cost you a day.

  • Our storage is in Bangalore only. We do not hold goods in any other city, and we will say so rather than take a booking that does not serve you.
  • We do not store hazardous or perishable goods. No fuel, no gas cylinders, no paint, no food, no plants and nothing living.
  • We do not store on an open ended basis without a stated rate. The period and the rate go in the quote, so a fortnight cannot quietly become three months.
  • We do not sort your household for you. Things that go in undecided come out undecided, and you will have paid rent on them meanwhile.
  • We do not treat the second leg as a delivery. Coming out of storage is a full move with a full crew and it should be budgeted as one.

More Questions About Warehouse & Storage

Where is the storage facility?

Bangalore. We put that first because storage is the service most often advertised nationally by companies that do not have any, and people find out where the unit actually is after their goods are in it. If you are moving between two other cities, tell us and we will say honestly whether holding your household in Bangalore makes sense.

Is storage worth it for a two day gap?

Usually not. Two days rarely justifies the double handling, and every extra handling is a chance for something to break. Ask your current landlord about a few extra days or the new one about early keys first, because one of those is often cheaper than a unit plus two moves.

How do I know everything comes back?

A numbered inventory taken before anything goes in, with your copy kept off the vehicle and photographed. Weeks later nobody remembers what went into a unit, and that list is the only thing that turns a suspicion into something anybody can act on. Insist on it here or anywhere else.

Will my things be safe over the monsoon?

If they are wrapped for it. Damp and heat are the risk in storage rather than handling, so mattresses, upholstery, electronics and anything old and wooden need proper wrapping and not just a blanket. Old timber furniture is worth a look before it goes in.

What does a staged move cost?

Budget for two jobs, because that is what it is. Roughly Rs 6,000 to Rs 10,500 for each leg of a 2 BHK, plus the storage period. People consistently expect the second leg to be a cheap delivery and it is a full move with a full crew.

Can I store things while I decide whether to keep them?

You can and we would gently push back. Things that go in undecided come out undecided, and you will have paid rent on furniture you were always going to give away. That is a sorting problem rather than a storage problem, and a weekend of work now saves months of cost.

What cannot go into storage?

Anything hazardous or perishable. No fuel, gas cylinders, paint, food, plants or anything living. If you are unsure about a particular item, ask at the survey, because discovering it at the door of the unit wastes everybody's morning.
