Frequently Asked Questions

Short Distance Does Not Mean Simple

A local move is the job people most often underestimate, precisely because the distance looks trivial. Two kilometres feels like something you could do yourself with a friend and a borrowed vehicle, and that's exactly how televisions get dropped and backs get hurt on a Sunday afternoon.

What makes a local move hard has nothing to do with the drive. It's the lift slot your building allots you, the staircase turn that a wardrobe won't go round, the gate pass security wants two days in advance, and the fact that both ends of the job are happening on the same day so there's no slack anywhere.

Which is why we survey a local move as carefully as a long one. The vehicle is sized to the access rather than the distance, and the crew is sized to the heaviest item rather than the average one.

One Trip or Two, and Why It Decides Your Bill

On a local move the single biggest cost variable is trip count, and it's decided at the survey rather than on the day. An undersized vehicle means going back, and going back in city traffic can cost most of an afternoon for a journey that took twenty minutes the first time.

The way to avoid it is boring and it works: be honest about volume. Almost every underestimate is hiding in the loft, the storeroom and the kitchen, and it's usually the customer's optimism rather than the mover's error. Everybody remembers the furniture and forgets the two suitcases under every bed.

Tell us at booking if anything is coming from a second address, a parent's flat, a friend's garage, a storage unit. A detour for a fridge sounds minor and it's a separate loading point with its own stairs and its own waiting time. We'll do it happily; we just want it in the plan and in the figure.

Timing, Which Is Free and Saves the Most

Load through the middle of the morning wherever your building allows it. Both edges of the day are slow in every Indian city and there is nothing a mover can do about that except not be in it. A move loaded by noon and unloaded by four is a calm one whatever the distance involved.

Then there's the month. The last weekend of a month is the most contested slot there is, because leases turn over together, and a midweek date in the middle of the month gets you a better position in the price band, an emptier road and your choice of lift slot. If your dates flex at all, that's the single cheapest saving available.

And book the lift the day you fix the date. The constraint on a local move is almost never our vehicle, it's your building's booking sheet, and those fill first.

The Small Local Move, Which Is a Real Booking

One room, a few items, somebody moving out of a shared flat. These are normal bookings rather than something squeezed in around bigger jobs, and they start from Rs 2999. Smaller loads often travel on a shared vehicle, where you pay for the space you use instead of a whole truck.

The trade off on sharing is time. A shared vehicle works to a route, so you get a delivery window of several hours rather than an appointment, and if you're second on the route you wait for the first. For most people that's a good deal. If you need to be unpacked by a particular hour, pay for the dedicated vehicle and we'll tell you which you actually need.

If you're in a shared flat, label your boxes with your name rather than just the room. It sounds trivial and it prevents the most predictable mix up there is.

What Local Shifting Costs

JobPriceWhat decides it
Single room or a few items₹2,999 onwardsOften on a shared vehicle, so you pay for the space rather than the truck.
1 BHK within the city₹3,500 – ₹6,500Floor and lift access decide the band position more than distance does.
2 BHK within the city₹6,000 – ₹10,500The commonest local job. Trip count is what moves it, so survey honestly.
3 BHK within the city₹9,000 – ₹16,000Dismantling and reassembly hours drive this rather than the kilometres.
Move with a pickup from a second address₹3,500 – ₹6,500The extra loading point costs an hour, not a kilometre. Mention it at booking.
Bike or scooter moved with the household₹2,500 – ₹5,500Cheapest travelling on the same vehicle, which only works with one trip.

Local moves start at ₹2,999. Interstate work is charged on distance bands of ₹15 to ₹28 per KM depending on the distance, quoted separately from the load so you can see both figures.

What Local Shifting Does Not Include

Worth reading before you book. A mover who tells you this afterwards has cost you a day.

  • We do not cover cartons you packed yourself. Leave glass, crockery, mirrors and screens to us even on a tight budget.
  • We do not book your lift slot or gate pass. Estate offices and security deal with residents, not contractors, so those are yours to raise.
  • We do not carry furniture down a stairwell it will not fit. It gets dismantled, or it stays, and that is decided at the survey.
  • We do not hold goods overnight on a local move unless storage has been booked as a separate, quoted service.
  • We do not do same day for a full household without a survey. A price for a home nobody has seen is a guess that gets corrected on the day.

More Questions About Local Shifting

We are only moving two kilometres. Is a mover worth it?

More often than people think. A short move tempts everybody into carrying things by hand across an afternoon, and that is exactly how a television gets dropped and a back gets hurt. It is inexpensive at this distance and it takes a few hours rather than a weekend.

What decides the price on a local move?

Trip count and access, not distance. An undersized vehicle means going back, and going back in city traffic costs most of an afternoon. That is why we measure rather than asking how many bedrooms you have.

When is the cheapest time to move locally?

Midweek, mid month, loaded through the middle of the morning. The last weekend of a month is the most contested slot there is because leases turn over together. If your dates flex at all, that is the cheapest saving available and it costs you nothing.

Can you collect something from a second address on the way?

Yes, and mention it when you book rather than on the morning. A second address is a second access problem with its own stairs and its own waiting time, so it belongs in the plan and in the figure. Once it is in the plan it is easy.

What does a local move cost?

A 1 BHK is Rs 3,500 to Rs 6,500, a 2 BHK Rs 6,000 to Rs 10,500 and a 3 BHK Rs 9,000 to Rs 16,000, with single rooms and small loads from Rs 2999. Those bands are the same across every city we work in.

Do I have to book the lift myself?

Yes, because estate offices deal with residents rather than contractors and most will not hold a slot on a mover's word. Do it the day you fix the date. On a local move your building's booking sheet is the real constraint, not our vehicle.

How does a shared vehicle work for a small load?

Two or three households travel on one trip, your goods inventoried and kept as their own block, and you pay for the space you use. The trade off is a delivery window of several hours rather than a set time. For a single room it is much the cheapest way to do it.
