Bike Shifting in Rayasandra

Plenty of households around Rayasandra keep a rented storage unit for things the flat can't hold, and sometimes the bike is among them. A second motorcycle that is only ridden on weekends. A bike kept safe while the owner was abroad. A scooter moved out when the society's parking got too tight. Or a paid lock up garage nearby, rented for the bike alone.

When the household moves, that bike is at a second address with its own rules, and it needs its own plan.

Start with access. Storage facilities usually have set hours, and some need advance notice for anything bigger than a box to be taken out. A bike may need the facility's staff to open a larger door, clear a corridor or operate a lift. Ask the facility what they need and how much notice. Ask whether a carrier truck can come up to the loading point, and whether there is a ramp or level access from the unit.

A private lock up garage is simpler but has its own questions. Who has the key? If the garage is in a building or a compound, does the security there know the truck is coming? Is the approach wide enough for a carrier?

Then the notice period. Storage units are usually rented monthly, with a notice period to end the rental. If the bike is the last thing in the unit, time the move so you aren't paying for another month you don't need. If the unit is also being emptied of boxes, plan whether the bike and the boxes go together or separately.

Check the bike before the move. A bike in storage may not have been started for months. Pump the tyres, check the battery, and if possible start it and let it run. Look for damp or pests if the unit isn't sealed.

Check the facility's own rules on vehicles. Some storage businesses don't allow fuel in a stored vehicle, or require the battery disconnected, and may have asked for that when you moved the bike in. Before collection, reconnect the battery and add a little fuel if the bike needs to be ridden or pushed to the truck. Ask whether the staff need to be present when the bike is taken out, and whether they will record its condition on the way out as they did on the way in. A copy of that check is useful if anything is disputed later.

Tell us exactly where the unit is and what the access is like when you book. If we're collecting from both the flat and the unit, we can plan the order: often the bike first, from the unit, then the household, or the reverse if the unit's hours suit that better.

Collect the unit's access card, key or code from the facility when the bike leaves, or arrange to hand it back. Ask for written confirmation that the rental is ending and the deposit is due back.

Once the unit is empty, sweep it and photograph it, the way you would a flat at the end of a lease. Facilities sometimes charge for cleaning or for oil marks on the floor, and a clear photo settles that quickly.

At the new address, think about whether the bike still needs storage, or whether the new parking can take it.
