Bike Shifting in Jakkur
A lot of people in Jakkur arrived recently, for a job on the north side of the city, and rented a first flat of their own. The bike is usually still back home, standing in a parent's porch, while they take cabs to the office. Bringing it to Bangalore is simple enough. The timing is where people go wrong.

Bike Shifting in Jakkur, Bangalore
Plenty of the housing in Jakkur is rented to people who have come to Bangalore for work, many of them to offices around Manyata and the airport corridor. For a lot of them it is a first flat, sometimes a first job, and the move itself is small: a couple of suitcases, a laptop, whatever the flat does not already have. What they usually do not bring on day one is their two wheeler. It stays at home in another town, and the plan is to send for it once things settle down.
That plan is sensible. The first weeks in a new job and a new flat are busy, and a bike arriving in the middle of it is one more thing to receive and park. But there is a right moment to bring it, and it is not the first week. The flat has to be ready to take it, which in Jakkur means more than just having keys.
First, the parking. Most of the buildings here allot two wheeler spaces, and a new tenant may not have one until the association has registered the flat and the vehicle. Ask about it on the day you move in. If you need to give the bike's registration number and papers, have a copy sent from home in advance. A bike that arrives before its space is allotted ends up parked in a visitor bay with security asking whose it is.
Second, the building's traffic. New tenants in Jakkur usually spend their first fortnight receiving deliveries: a mattress, a wardrobe, a fridge, a washing machine. Those arrive in vans that use the service lift and the gate, and some societies allow only one goods booking per slot. A bike delivery does not need the lift, but it does need the gate, the ramp and security's attention, and it is easier when it is not competing with three furniture vans on the same Saturday.
Third, your own time. Somebody has to be in Jakkur to receive the bike, check it against the pickup record and sign for it. In a new job that is not always easy to arrange. A weekday morning before work, or a weekend once the furniture has come, is usually best.
One more point on timing. A new job often comes with a probation period and a training schedule in the first month, sometimes at another office or even another city. If your first weeks involve travel, the bike is better off at home until your routine is steady. It will only stand in the Jakkur basement otherwise, and a bike that has travelled hundreds of kilometres to sit unused for a month is money spent early.
So our advice to new arrivals is to wait until the flat is settled, usually two or three weeks after moving in, and then book the bike. At the home end, a parent or sibling hands it over, having been told what they need at booking. The bike travels on a carrier to Jakkur and is never ridden. Bike transport between cities is costed by the kilometre, and your family sees that number on the quote before they hand over a key. Within Bangalore, moving a bike from a relative's place or a first stopgap room costs from Rs 2,500 and stays inside Rs 5,500 for a normal machine.
Scooter and Scooty Shifting in Jakkur
Many new arrivals bring a scooter, since it is the easiest thing for short hops to the office, the supermarket and the metro. A scooty sent from home should come with its seat box empty. Parents often fill it with small things for the new flat, which is kind, but those belong in a parcel, not in the scooter.
On the vehicle the scooter stands upright, secured through the frame, with its plastic body covered for the journey.
EV Scooter Shifting in Jakkur
An electric scooter from home needs a charging plan in Jakkur before it arrives. Check whether your building has a charging point for tenants and whether you need to apply for it. Without one, charging a removable battery in the flat may be the only option, which depends on the model.
On the booking call, give the scooter's make and say whether the battery slides out or stays fixed. The scooter travels with its battery.
Two Wheeler Transport from Jakkur to Other Cities
Most bike moves into Jakkur come from another state, often from the rider's home town. The bike is collected from the family home, carried on a carrier for the whole distance, and delivered to your building. Two wheeler transport of this kind is charged per kilometre, and longer routes get a lower per kilometre rate.
A bike on another state's plates that stays in Karnataka for good will need re-registration here at some point. That paperwork is yours and the RTO's; our part ends when the bike is delivered. It is worth reading up on it before the bike arrives, so you know what the local RTO will ask for.

Getting Your Bike Ready in Jakkur
Ask your association about two wheeler parking on the day you move in. Find out whether the flat has a space, and what they need to register a new vehicle.
Have a copy of the bike's RC and insurance sent to you in advance. The association will usually want to see them.
Wait until the big furniture deliveries are done before booking the bike. Two or three weeks after moving in is typical.
Tell the family member at home what to prepare: keys, a copy of the papers, the tank at reserve and the seat box empty.
Pick a delivery time you can actually be at the gate for, a weekday morning before work or a weekend.
Once the bike is here, check the tyres before the first ride. It has been standing at home and then on a carrier, and the pressure may have dropped.
Moving the whole household too? Our packers and movers in Jakkur page covers the house move, and a bike can travel on the same vehicle.

Before Your Bike Is Collected in Jakkur
Fuel
Ride the tank down to reserve in the days before collection. A small amount is fine; a full tank is not wanted on a loaded vehicle.
Papers
Photocopies of the RC, the insurance policy and your photo ID travel with the bike. Keep the originals, especially the RC, with you. If the RC is not in your name, mention it when you book.
Condition record
Photograph the bike from every side and at the odometer. The crew also notes its condition at pickup, and you keep a copy of that note.
Insurance
Transit insurance is available on a value you declare. Keep the bike's own motor insurance valid for the journey as well.
At delivery
Check the bike against the pickup note and your photographs before signing, and point out anything new while the crew is still there.
Handover
If someone else will hand over or receive the bike, tell us who when you book, and we will confirm what they need to have with them.
What a Bike Move Does Not Include
- We do not ride your bike to the new address. It travels on a vehicle, standing upright and strapped at the frame.
- Ride the tank down to reserve before pickup. A near empty tank is safer on a loaded vehicle.
- We do not repair, service or start a bike that will not start. Tell us at booking so it is loaded the right way.
- Helmets, jackets and tools travel in a carton or with you, never strapped to the bike.
- RC transfer, address change and re-registration in a new state are yours to do, or an agent's.
Bike Shifting in Jakkur: Questions People Ask
Intercity routes are priced per kilometre, and the rate per kilometre drops as the distance grows. Name the town and the price for that route comes back to you on paper.
Once the flat is settled and the parking is sorted, usually two or three weeks after moving in. Not in the first week, when furniture deliveries are arriving.
Put their names on the booking, and we will speak to them directly about what to have ready. Usually it is the keys, a copy of the papers, the tank at reserve and the seat box empty.
Yes. Ask the association about a parking space and what they need to register the vehicle. A bike that arrives before its space is allotted is awkward for everyone.
It can, but it is easier on another day. The gate and ramp are busy, and some societies allow only one goods booking per slot.
No. It goes straight to the parking level. But it still needs the gate and security, which are busy when furniture is arriving.
Please send those in a parcel. The seat box should be empty. Things left in it are easily lost on a long journey.
Check whether your building has a charging point for tenants and how to apply. For some models, a removable battery can be charged indoors. Tell us the model when you book.
Not for moving it. For a long stay, you will need to look into re-registration in Karnataka, which we do not handle. Read up on it before the bike arrives.
You, or someone you name at booking. They check the bike against the pickup record and sign for it.
Yes. It can come to Bangalore and wait in our storage, booked by the week, until your parking is sorted.
For a long route, most people choose the carrier. It avoids a tiring ride and extra wear. For a short distance, riding may make sense.
Yes. That is a local move, starting at Rs 2,500 and normally under Rs 5,500 for an ordinary bike.
If a slot is available and your building allows it, yes. That is often the easiest time for someone new in a job.
Yes, if they are coming from the same place. They get separate pickup notes and are priced one by one.
Yes. Cover for the road journey is based on the value you give us when booking. For an older bike from home, a realistic resale figure is a fair place to start.
It travels upright on the carrier, tied through the frame, with its panels covered. It is not ridden at any point.
Go round the bike slowly with the pickup note in your hand, then sign. Before the first ride, get the tyre pressure checked at a nearby pump.
Yes. Those are nearby and we deliver across the north side.
No. The tank should be at reserve. Fill it up here once the bike arrives.
Have the originals with you or sent separately by courier. Copies travel with the bike.
It can, but most people find it easier a couple of weeks later, once the flat is furnished and the parking is registered.
Ring us any time for an update on where the bike has got to. We do not give a fixed number of transit days, so plan with some margin.
We will agree another day. The bike can only be collected when someone is there with the keys.
Usually not. Arrive, settle into the flat, sort the parking and see how the first weeks go. Most new joiners send for the bike two or three weeks later, when there is time to receive it properly.
Many people find they do, for the shops, the metro and weekends around Yelahanka. But if the office bus or cabs suit you, it is fine to wait a month and decide before paying for the journey.
Yes. If your job moves again, the same service works in reverse.
