Bike Shifting in HSR Sector 6

Some families in HSR Sector 6 have one old bike alongside the new furniture: a grandparent's scooter brought over after their house was cleared, parked in a corner of the basement and never ridden since. It will not start. It does not need to. It just needs to move with the family, in one piece.

Bike Shifting

Bike Shifting in HSR Sector 6, Bangalore

HSR Sector 6 is a stretch of HSR Layout with apartment blocks and independent houses, where most of what a family owns was bought in the last few years. And then there are the things that came from an older home. A clock, a carved chest, and sometimes a two wheeler: a parent's or grandparent's scooter or motorcycle, kept for the memory more than the riding. Our HSR Layout bike page is about leaving for a job somewhere else. This page is for the bike that will not start, whatever the reason, and how it moves anyway.

The good news first. A bike that will not start is not a problem for bike transport itself. We never ride bikes, not to the vehicle, not off it, not anywhere. Every bike, running or not, is walked out by the crew, lifted, tied upright on the vehicle and walked in again at the other end. An engine that turns over is irrelevant to that. So the question is never whether it runs. The question is whether it rolls.

This is where a bike left untouched for years catches families out. Tyres go flat and the rubber cracks. Brakes can stick to the drum or the disc. The steering lock may be stuck, or the key for it long lost. A side stand can rust into place. A bike that will not roll or steer needs more hands and a little more time to get out of a basement or down a house's front steps, and we would rather know that at booking than discover it at the gate.

So when you call, describe the bike as honestly as you can. Does it roll when pushed? Do both wheels spin? Is the handlebar locked, and do you have the key? Are the tyres holding any air? A photo or two sent at booking helps more than any description. For a straightforward non starter that rolls and steers, the price is the same as any bike. For one that is seized or awkward, we may want to look at it first.

Making it run is not part of our job. Our crew does not jump start bikes, charge batteries, pump tyres or loosen stuck brakes, because working on a bike is a mechanic's job and not a mover's. If you want the bike running at the new place, the time to call a mechanic is after it has arrived. Many families find it is easier to have an old scooter looked at in the new neighbourhood anyway, where they will be riding it or keeping it.

There is also the question of fuel. An old bike may still have petrol in it from the last time it was ridden, possibly a long time ago. Normally we ask for the tank to be ridden down to reserve, which is not possible with a bike that will not start. Give us a rough idea of the fuel left when you book, and we will work out the next step together.

Last, the papers. An inherited bike often has its registration in the name of the person it came from. That is a family matter, and we do not handle RC transfers. Keep whatever papers you have with you, and let copies travel with the bike.

Scooters

Scooter and Scooty Shifting in HSR Sector 6

Old scooters are the most common non starters, since they are the bikes families tend to keep: a geared scooter from the eighties, an early gearless scooty that belonged to a parent. Their small wheels make them easy to wheel if the tyres hold some air, and awkward if the rims are sitting on flat rubber.

On the vehicle an old scooter travels upright, tied through its frame and not its body panels, with a cover over paint that may be more fragile than it looks.

Electric

EV Scooter Shifting in HSR Sector 6

Electric scooters can refuse to start too, usually because the battery has run down completely after months unused, or because the key card or app has been lost. That does not stop the move. On the booking call, name the EV, describe its battery, and say whether it powers up at all.

Some EVs lock their wheels when the power is off. If yours does, say so, because it changes how the crew moves it.

Intercity

Two Wheeler Transport from HSR Sector 6 to Other Cities

An inherited bike often goes further than across HSR: back to a family home in another city, or on to a cousin who wants to restore it. A bike that will not start travels the same way as any other, on the vehicle, with the kilometre rate set down on paper.

Mention that it is a non starter when you book an intercity move. At the far end, someone will need to be ready to receive a bike that has to be pushed.

Charges

Bike Shifting Charges in HSR Sector 6

These are our standard bands. The survey or the booking call fixes where your bike lands inside them, in writing.

  • Grandparent's scooter that rolls but will not start, moved across HSR

    ₹2,500 – ₹5,500

Priced like any running scooter. The engine does not matter.

  • Non starter loaded with a Sector 6 household and its heirlooms

    ₹2,999 onwards

Tied upright in its own space, nothing stacked against it.

  • Inherited motorcycle returning to a family home in the next state

    ₹15 – ₹20 per KM

Someone at the far end ready to push it into place.

  • Old bike going to a cousin for restoration, a long way off

    ₹20 – ₹28 per KM

Covered well, since old paint chips easily.

  • Seized bike with locked steering and no key

    After Survey

Looked at first. More hands, more time.

  • Non running bike parked with us while the family decides

    After Survey

Quoted on how long it stays.

Before the Day

Getting Your Bike Ready in HSR Sector 6

Before you call, go down and push the bike. Does it roll? Do both wheels turn? Can the handlebar move? The answers decide how long the collection takes.

Find the key if you can, including the steering lock key. A locked handlebar on a bike with no key is the hardest thing to move out of a basement.

Take a couple of photos, including the tyres, and send them when you book. They save a lot of guessing.

Tell us roughly how much fuel is in the tank. A bike that cannot be ridden down to reserve needs a conversation, not a guess.

Plan the mechanic for after delivery, in the new neighbourhood. Our crew moves bikes but does not repair, charge or start them.

Moving the whole household too? Our packers and movers in HSR Sector 6 page covers the house move, and a bike can travel on the same vehicle.

Checklist

Before Your Bike Is Collected in HSR Sector 6

  • Fuel

Ride the tank down to reserve in the days before collection. A small amount is fine; a full tank is not wanted on a loaded vehicle.

  • Papers

Photocopies of the RC, the insurance policy and your photo ID travel with the bike. Keep the originals, especially the RC, with you. If the RC is not in your name, mention it when you book.

  • Condition record

Photograph the bike from every side and at the odometer. The crew also notes its condition at pickup, and you keep a copy of that note.

  • Insurance

Transit insurance is available on a value you declare. Keep the bike's own motor insurance valid for the journey as well.

  • At delivery

Check the bike against the pickup note and your photographs before signing, and point out anything new while the crew is still there.

  • Handover

If someone else will hand over or receive the bike, tell us who when you book, and we will confirm what they need to have with them.

Good to Know

What a Bike Move Does Not Include

  • We do not ride your bike to the new address. It travels on a vehicle, standing upright and strapped at the frame.
  • Ride the tank down to reserve before pickup. A near empty tank is safer on a loaded vehicle.
  • We do not repair, service or start a bike that will not start. Tell us at booking so it is loaded the right way.
  • Helmets, jackets and tools travel in a carton or with you, never strapped to the bike.
  • RC transfer, address change and re-registration in a new state are yours to do, or an agent's.
FAQ

Bike Shifting in HSR Sector 6: Questions People Ask

If it rolls and steers, the same as any bike: inside Bangalore, count on Rs 2,500 upward, with most models settling before Rs 5,500. If the wheels are seized or the steering is locked, we may want to see it before quoting.

Yes. We never ride bikes anyway. The crew walks every bike to the vehicle, lifts it on and ties it upright. Whether the engine runs makes no difference to that.

No. We do not jump start, charge or repair bikes. The scooter travels exactly as it is, and a mechanic can look at it after it arrives.

Tell us at booking. Seized brakes or a rusted stand mean more hands and more time to get the bike out. We may ask for photos or look at it first, and the price is agreed before collection.

It is the hardest case, because the bike cannot be steered out. Search for the key before booking. If it cannot be found, tell us, and we will talk through what is possible.

Usually yes, though it is heavier work to push. We do not pump tyres. If the tyres have gone completely and the rims are on the ground, mention it so we can plan the carry.

Normally a tank is ridden down to reserve, which a non starter cannot do. A rough guess at the level, shared at booking, is enough for us to advise.

There is no need for the move. Many families prefer to take it to a mechanic in the new neighbourhood, once it has arrived and they know where it will be kept.

Only in how easily it rolls. Old scooties with small wheels push easily if the tyres hold some air. Flat tyres or a stuck brake make it heavier. The scooty still goes on the vehicle upright and tied.

Yes. Give us the model, what you know of the battery, and whether the wheels turn with the power off. Some EVs lock their wheels without power, which changes how the crew handles it.

Yes. It travels on the vehicle like any other bike, priced per kilometre in writing. Make sure someone at the far end knows it has to be pushed, not ridden, into place.

We move the bike. The registration is a family matter, and we do not handle transfers. Keep whatever papers you have with you, and let copies go with the bike.

Often, yes. Old paint chips and old chrome pits. The crew covers the bike before strapping and ties it at the frame, so no strap rubs on the paint.

Yes. Tell us about the steps at booking, especially if the bike does not roll easily, so enough people come to carry it down safely.

Yes. That is a short local run at the city rate. A non starter needs the same honest description at booking, however short the trip.

Tell the crew. They will control it by hand on any slope or ramp, and more people may be needed. A bike without brakes is moved slowly and never on its own.

Leave it as it is. If it is already disconnected or missing, tell us. We do not work on the electrics either way.

Yes. The bike can go on the household vehicle with the family's other pieces, tied upright in its own space with nothing stacked against it.

Yes. We quote storage after hearing about the bike and how long it may stay. It is a common choice for an inherited bike whose future is undecided.

Transit cover goes by the value you put on the bike when booking. For an old family bike that value may be more sentimental than market, so think about the figure before you call.

Yes. At collection they note its condition, including rust, cracks and flat tyres, and you get a copy. On an old bike that record is long, and that is fine.

That it is in the same state as the condition note says, the key and any papers are with you, and it is parked where a mechanic can reach it later.

That is your family's decision, and many decide yes for the memory alone. We will move it carefully either way, and not try to talk you out of it.

Yes, once we know whether it rolls, steers and has a key. Push it yourself before calling, and send photos of the tyres and the stand.

Phone +91 90908 28210. Describe the bike, whether it rolls and whether you have the keys. We will plan the collection and send the price in writing.
