Bike Shifting in DJ Halli
Some DJ Halli lanes have no turning space. A carrier that goes in has to come out backwards, past a row of neighbours' scooters, with children playing at the mouth of the lane. We always put a spotter on the ground behind it. On the morning, help us by asking neighbours to keep the lane clear for those few minutes.

Bike Shifting in DJ Halli, Bangalore
DJ Halli is dense, and some of its lanes simply end. A wall, a house, a gate. No turning circle, no wider bit at the end. A vehicle that drives in has to reverse out, often a hundred metres or more, between houses whose front steps come right to the edge of the lane.
For a household move, that shapes the size of vehicle and the length of the day. A big lorry can't do it at all; a smaller one does several trips. For a bike, the job is quicker, but the reverse is the same. Our carrier goes in, the bike goes up the ramp, and then the carrier has to back out down a lane lined with parked two wheelers, with people walking and children running in and out of doorways.
A carrier's driver can't see what is directly behind or low beside the vehicle. A scooter on its side stand, a child crouching to tie a shoe, a handcart left at a doorway: all of it is in the blind spot. That is how a careful driver still clips a mirror or worse.
So the rule is simple: a spotter on the ground for every reverse. It costs nothing extra and it is not optional, even on a lane the driver has reversed out of before. Lanes change from one hour to the next. One of our crew walks behind the carrier, in the driver's mirror, guiding with hand signals and stopping it for anything in the way. The carrier moves at walking pace, and stops whenever the spotter does.
Rain makes the reverse harder still. Wet lanes reflect light confusingly in mirrors, people step out under umbrellas without looking, and the spotter's signals are harder to see. In a heavy shower, we wait it out rather than reverse blind.
You can help in two ways. First, tell the neighbours. A short word the evening before, asking them to keep scooters off the lane for half an hour in the morning and to watch the children, makes the reverse much safer. Second, if the lane is very tight, consider wheeling the bike to the lane's mouth instead, so the carrier doesn't need to come in at all. For a light scooter, that is often the better plan.
Choose a quiet hour: after the school rush, before people come home for lunch.
Deliveries and vendors use these lanes too. The vegetable cart, the water can delivery and the gas cylinder auto all come in at their usual times, and all of them also have to reverse out. Ask a neighbour when they usually arrive, and book around them, so two vehicles aren't trying to back out of the same lane at once.
The DJ Halli packers page explains the reversing problem for a household vehicle. This page applies it to the smaller, quicker bike job.
Scooter and Scooty Shifting in DJ Halli
Keeping the carrier out of the lane makes scooter and scooty shifting in DJ Halli simplest. A scooter is light enough to wheel to the lane's mouth, where the carrier waits on a wider road. Empty the boot first and walk alongside it with our crew. Lane surfaces here are often uneven, with drain covers and broken patches, and two pairs of eyes help.
EV Scooter Shifting in DJ Halli
An electric scooter is heavier than a petrol scooty, but still usually manageable to wheel to the mouth of the lane with two crew. Share the brand and how its pack fits while booking, and say if the lane slopes. A heavy EV wheeled down a sloping lane needs one person holding back, not just one pushing.
Two Wheeler Transport from DJ Halli to Other Cities
Long runs to another city start the same way, with a careful reverse or a push to the lane's mouth. Beyond the lane, the charge for the trip is a kilometre rate, and once on the main road the bike is treated like any other.

Before Your Bike Is Collected in DJ Halli
Fuel
Ride the tank down to reserve in the days before collection. A small amount is fine; a full tank is not wanted on a loaded vehicle.
Papers
Photocopies of the RC, the insurance policy and your photo ID travel with the bike. Keep the originals, especially the RC, with you. If the RC is not in your name, mention it when you book.
Condition record
Photograph the bike from every side and at the odometer. The crew also notes its condition at pickup, and you keep a copy of that note.
Insurance
Transit insurance is available on a value you declare. Keep the bike's own motor insurance valid for the journey as well.
At delivery
Check the bike against the pickup note and your photographs before signing, and point out anything new while the crew is still there.
Handover
If someone else will hand over or receive the bike, tell us who when you book, and we will confirm what they need to have with them.
What a Bike Move Does Not Include
- We do not ride your bike to the new address. It travels on a vehicle, standing upright and strapped at the frame.
- Ride the tank down to reserve before pickup. A near empty tank is safer on a loaded vehicle.
- We do not repair, service or start a bike that will not start. Tell us at booking so it is loaded the right way.
- Helmets, jackets and tools travel in a carton or with you, never strapped to the bike.
- RC transfer, address change and re-registration in a new state are yours to do, or an agent's.
