Bike Shifting in Dinnur

When somebody in a Dinnur house works nights, a morning pickup steals their sleep. So the bike gets collected in the late afternoon instead. The catch is the light: condition photographs taken in dusk hide scratches. Book the slot early enough in the afternoon that the bike is photographed in good daylight.

Bike Shifting

Bike Shifting in Dinnur, Bangalore

Dinnur has many homes where somebody works nights: in a hospital, a call centre, security, or on a factory shift. For them, nine in the morning is the middle of the night. Their day starts in the afternoon. A move booked for nine in the morning means a crew, a carrier and a ramp clanging outside their window when they have slept two hours.

For the household goods, there are ways round it. For the bike alone, the simplest fix is to collect it later. Book the bike for the afternoon, after the sleeper has woken. They can even hand it over themselves, if it is their bike.

That brings one practical point to the fore: light. Our crew photographs the bike from every side before loading, and writes a condition note you sign. Photographs taken in strong daylight show scratches, dents and scuffs clearly. Photographs taken at dusk, or under a single tube light in a parking area, don't. A scratch that would be obvious at noon is invisible at half past six. If a question comes up later, a dim photograph is no help to either of us.

So pick an afternoon slot that leaves enough light. In Bangalore that usually means collecting by four or half past four, so the photos are done well before the light goes. In the monsoon months, when afternoons are often grey and wet, earlier is better.

Weekends offer another option. Many night workers have one or two nights off a week. A pickup on the afternoon after a night off, when the rider has slept normally, is the gentlest of all. Look at the roster and pick that day if you can.

Noise is worth a thought even in the afternoon. The ramp of a carrier clangs when it drops, and straps ratchet loudly. If the sleeper's room faces the street and they are still resting, ask the crew to lower the ramp gently; it can be done quietly with a little care.

If the only possible time is evening, we can work with it. The crew uses a strong torch, takes extra close up photos, and you check the note carefully. But daylight is better for everyone.

At delivery, the same applies. A bike that leaves in the afternoon and arrives after dark should be photographed again under the best light the new parking has, and the receiver should look it over properly the next morning. If the bike arrives in the evening, ask for the photos to be done under a good light, or look at it again in the morning and report anything within the agreed time.

How to plan a household move around somebody who sleeps by day is on the Dinnur packers page. Here, the bike gets its own place in that plan.

Scooters

Scooter and Scooty Shifting in Dinnur

Night workers usually hand over their own scooter or scooty, once they are up. Leave the scooter where it can be wheeled out quietly, empty the boot the evening before, and keep the keys by the bed so nobody has to wake them early to find them.

If someone else in the house will hand it over instead, put the keys, the RC copy and a short note with the rider's phone number on the table by the door the night before.

Electric

EV Scooter Shifting in Dinnur

Night workers often charge their electric scooter during the day while they sleep. On collection day, start the charge early so it reaches the agreed transit level by the afternoon pickup. Tell us the maker and battery arrangement when booking. If the charger is in the rider's room, take it out the night before so nobody has to go in during their sleep.

Intercity

Two Wheeler Transport from Dinnur to Other Cities

A late afternoon pickup works for long runs to another city too, though the carrier may leave early the next morning. In that case the bike spends the night on the carrier or at our depot, which is noted at booking. The carriage itself is a per kilometre charge, and two wheeler transport starting in the afternoon simply means the condition photos happen in good light before the bike is strapped down.

Look at the roster for a day after a night off, and book that afternoon if you can.

Park the bike near the gate the evening before, facing out, so it rolls away quietly.

At delivery in the evening, ask for photos under a good light, or check again in the morning.

Checklist

Before Your Bike Is Collected in Dinnur

  • Fuel

Ride the tank down to reserve in the days before collection. A small amount is fine; a full tank is not wanted on a loaded vehicle.

  • Papers

Photocopies of the RC, the insurance policy and your photo ID travel with the bike. Keep the originals, especially the RC, with you. If the RC is not in your name, mention it when you book.

  • Condition record

Photograph the bike from every side and at the odometer. The crew also notes its condition at pickup, and you keep a copy of that note.

  • Insurance

Transit insurance is available on a value you declare. Keep the bike's own motor insurance valid for the journey as well.

  • At delivery

Check the bike against the pickup note and your photographs before signing, and point out anything new while the crew is still there.

  • Handover

If someone else will hand over or receive the bike, tell us who when you book, and we will confirm what they need to have with them.

Good to Know

What a Bike Move Does Not Include

  • We do not ride your bike to the new address. It travels on a vehicle, standing upright and strapped at the frame.
  • Ride the tank down to reserve before pickup. A near empty tank is safer on a loaded vehicle.
  • We do not repair, service or start a bike that will not start. Tell us at booking so it is loaded the right way.
  • Helmets, jackets and tools travel in a carton or with you, never strapped to the bike.
  • RC transfer, address change and re-registration in a new state are yours to do, or an agent's.
