Bike, Scooter and Two Wheeler Shifting · Chandra Layout, Bangalore

Bike Shifting in Chandra Layout

Chandra Layout garages often hold a motorcycle that is halfway through a rebuild. The frame stands on a stand, the tank sits on a shelf, the carburettor is in a biscuit tin and the bolts are in three jars. Moved carelessly, a project like that arrives as a pile of parts nobody can put back together. Boxed as one unit, it arrives ready for the next weekend.

Bike Shifting

Bike Shifting in Chandra Layout, Bangalore

Houses in Chandra Layout have space, and garages fill up. Among the tools, paint tins and leftover tiles, a fair number hold a bike project: an old motorcycle being restored, a scooter whose engine came out for a rebuild, a cafe racer conversion that has been "nearly done" for two years. The owner knows exactly where every part is. Nobody else does.

On moving day, that knowledge is the thing most at risk. A packing crew sees a frame, a wheel, a fuel tank and a box of small metal bits, and treats them as garage contents. The wheel goes in one carton, the tank is wrapped with the paint tins, the jars of bolts end up with the plumbing fittings. At the new house, the project now has to be found before it can be finished, and something small, a spacer, a jet, a special bolt, is always missing.

So tell us at booking that there is a project, and let the owner do the sorting. Every loose part goes into a box marked with the bike's name. Small parts go into labelled zip bags, one bag per assembly, inside that box. Long parts, the handlebars, the exhaust, the forks, are wrapped together and tied. The tank, if it has been off for a while, should be empty, dry and open to air for a few days before the move, then capped.

Write a short note for the far end too. A sheet of paper in the parts box listing what is in each bag, and what has already been fitted to the frame, saves an hour of head scratching when the project starts again. Photograph the bike on its stand from both sides before anything moves, so you can see how it was.

The frame or rolling chassis travels like any bike if it can roll on its wheels: up the ramp, upright, strapped at the frame. If it is on a paddock stand or blocks with no wheels, we plan to carry it and pad it on the carrier floor. The stand itself travels too.

What we won't carry is anything flammable left over from the project: petrol in a can, thinner, carb cleaner, spray paint. Those stay behind, and a garage often has more of them than people expect.

Tools, weight and the things that can't travel are handled on our Chandra Layout packers page. This page is about the project bike in the middle of it.

Scooters

Scooter and Scooty Shifting in Chandra Layout

Scooter and scooty shifting from a Chandra Layout garage sometimes means a scooter with its body panels off for repainting. Panels scratch easily and crack if stacked. Wrap each one in a soft cloth, stand them on edge in one carton, and mark it with the scooter's number so nobody mixes them with household boxes.

Electric

EV Scooter Shifting in Chandra Layout

Electric scooter projects are rarer but growing: a battery upgrade, a motor swap. Loose lithium cells or packs out of the frame need special handling, so mention them at booking and they are assessed before any figure is given. A complete EV in one piece travels like any other, with its make and battery layout noted while booking.

Intercity

Two Wheeler Transport from Chandra Layout to Other Cities

Some projects leave for another city when the family moves. Bike transport works for a half built machine just as well as a finished one, if the parts box is packed properly and rides strapped beside the frame. The run is charged per kilometre on that corridor, with one written figure in your hand before pickup.

Before the Day

Getting Your Bike Ready in Chandra Layout

A week before, sort the project. One big box with the bike's name on it, labelled zip bags inside for each group of small parts.

Empty and air the fuel tank if it is off the bike. Cap it the day before.

Separate everything flammable from the garage and decide what to do with it. None of it goes on our vehicle.

On the morning, show the crew the frame, the parts box and the long parts bundle, and see them loaded together.

Moving the whole household too? Our packers and movers in Chandra Layout page covers the house move, and a bike can travel on the same vehicle.

Checklist

Before Your Bike Is Collected in Chandra Layout

  • Fuel

Ride the tank down to reserve in the days before collection. A small amount is fine; a full tank is not wanted on a loaded vehicle.

  • Papers

Photocopies of the RC, the insurance policy and your photo ID travel with the bike. Keep the originals, especially the RC, with you. If the RC is not in your name, mention it when you book.

  • Condition record

Photograph the bike from every side and at the odometer. The crew also notes its condition at pickup, and you keep a copy of that note.

  • Insurance

Transit insurance is available on a value you declare. Keep the bike's own motor insurance valid for the journey as well.

  • At delivery

Check the bike against the pickup note and your photographs before signing, and point out anything new while the crew is still there.

  • Handover

If someone else will hand over or receive the bike, tell us who when you book, and we will confirm what they need to have with them.

Good to Know

What a Bike Move Does Not Include

  • We do not ride your bike to the new address. It travels on a vehicle, standing upright and strapped at the frame.
  • Ride the tank down to reserve before pickup. A near empty tank is safer on a loaded vehicle.
  • We do not repair, service or start a bike that will not start. Tell us at booking so it is loaded the right way.
  • Helmets, jackets and tools travel in a carton or with you, never strapped to the bike.
  • RC transfer, address change and re-registration in a new state are yours to do, or an agent's.
