Bike Shifting in Vijayanagar 1st Stage

Vijayanagar 1st Stage has many houses that have been renovated, and new homes with fresh floors: polished granite steps, interlocking pavers in the compound, new vitrified tiles in a covered parking area. Owners are rightly protective of them. The furniture side of the move gets floor protection. The bike usually doesn't.

The bike's risk to a floor is its side stand. When a motorcycle leans on its side stand, a large share of its weight sits on the stand's small foot. On concrete, that's fine. On pavers laid on sand, the foot can push one paver down or tip its edge. On polished granite or tiles, the foot can chip the surface, or simply slide on the shine, letting the bike lean further and fall. On asphalt in summer, it sinks.

The fix costs very little. A side stand plate, sometimes called a stand puck: a small flat disc or square of hard plastic or metal that sits under the stand's foot and spreads the load. Many accessory shops sell them; a flat piece of hard wood or an old tile can do the job. Put one where the bike will park, before it arrives, and use it every time.

Ramps and kerbs at the new home matter too. A freshly laid paver driveway often has a sharp new kerb edge or a step at the gate where the pavers meet the road. A bike bumped over it scrapes its sump guard and chips the paver. Our crew lifts the front wheel over any new edge and rolls the rear gently, rather than bouncing it.

The centre stand needs a thought too. It is more stable, but its two feet can scratch polished stone. A rubber mat or a piece of carpet under it works.

Delivery is the other moment of risk. The bike comes off the carrier and is pushed across the new compound to its spot. Our crew pushes it on its wheels, never dragging the stand, and puts the stand down onto the plate you have laid. If the path crosses polished granite, we lay a mat or board on the way.

Rain changes the picture. Water on polished granite turns it slippery for a crew member's shoes and for a stand's foot alike. If the delivery is in a shower, we wait for it to pass or lay a dry mat over the wet stone first.

The old parking matters too. If you are a tenant leaving a house with a new floor, check the bike's spot for marks from its stand before the deposit inspection.
