Bike Shifting in Peenya

Bike Shifting

Bike Shifting in Peenya, Bangalore

Peenya is one of the city's largest industrial areas, and many people who live nearby ride to work inside it every day. Machine shops, fabrication units, presses, foundries and workshops all leave something on the ground. Fine metal shavings from lathes and drills, called swarf. Drips of machine oil and cutting coolant. Grinding dust. Small offcuts of sheet metal. Riders walk through it, park beside it, and over months it ends up on the bike.

Most of the time nobody notices. On moving day, it matters.

Swarf in the tyres is the first concern. Thin, sharp metal shavings embed in the tread and work their way in slowly. On a daily commute, a tyre may lose pressure gradually without anyone knowing why. On a truck, with the bike strapped down and the tyre squeezed against the bed, a sliver can push through. A bike that arrives with a flat tyre is a nuisance; one that has a tyre ruined by a sliver is a cost.

So check the tyres properly. Turn each wheel slowly and look at the tread in good light. Pick out any metal you can see with a pair of pliers or tweezers. A magnet run over the tread will pick up fine iron dust. If anything looks embedded deep, have a puncture shop check the tyre before the move.

Oil on the footboard and floor mat is the second. Machine oil and coolant drip off boots and collect on the floorboard of a scooter or the footpegs of a motorcycle. They make the surface slippery, which matters when the crew are lifting and steering the bike up a ramp. Oily rubber on a footpeg can make a grip slip at the wrong moment. Wipe the footboard, pegs, kick start and gear lever with a degreaser, and lift the mat to clean underneath.

Then the rest. Grinding dust settles in the gaps around the panels, under the seat and in the boot. It is gritty, and it scratches paint when the crew handle the bike. A quick wash or a wipe down with a damp cloth gets rid of most of it. Check the boot for tools, rags and spare parts brought home from work. A spanner rattling in the boot on a long run can crack the plastic.

Check the seat and grips last. A rider coming off a shift often sits on the bike in oily overalls, and the seat cover and handlebar grips soak it up. A wipe with soapy water stops the crew's gloves slipping on the grips while they steer the bike up the ramp.

Finally, look at the chain. Industrial dust and oil mixed together form a grinding paste on the chain and sprockets. Clean and lubricate it before the move, and the bike will run better at the other end too.

Think about your boots and gloves too. If you clean the bike in work clothes, you add the same grime back. Change first, use a fresh cloth, and wash your hands before you handle the seat and grips. And if a colleague has been riding pillion in work overalls, the seat cover may need a wipe of its own.

None of this is a big job. Half an hour the evening before is enough. It protects the bike, it protects the crew, and it keeps the other goods on the truck clean.

Our Peenya packers page covers labour only bookings for people with their own vehicle. This page is about the commuter bike from the factory floor.

Scooters

Scooter and Scooty Shifting in Peenya

For a factory commuter, scooter and scooty shifting in Peenya begins at the floorboard. Lift the mat, wipe off the oil and coolant, and check the small tyres for metal slivers. A scooter's tyres are more easily punctured by a fine shaving.

Electric

EV Scooter Shifting in Peenya

An electric scooter used in an industrial area can collect metal dust near its motor and charging port. Blow the dust out and check that nothing magnetic has stuck to the hub motor. Name its manufacturer and the pack layout while booking.

Intercity

Two Wheeler Transport from Peenya to Other Cities

Relocating from Peenya to work in another city? Clean the bike before the long run, since a sliver in a tyre is more likely to cause trouble over hundreds of kilometres. Kilometres set the bike transport fare, and a clean two wheeler arrives ready for the new commute.

Before Your Bike Is Collected in Peenya

  • Fuel

Ride the tank down to reserve in the days before collection. A small amount is fine; a full tank is not wanted on a loaded vehicle.

  • Papers

Photocopies of the RC, the insurance policy and your photo ID travel with the bike. Keep the originals, especially the RC, with you. If the RC is not in your name, mention it when you book.

  • Condition record

Photograph the bike from every side and at the odometer. The crew also notes its condition at pickup, and you keep a copy of that note.

Transit insurance is available on a value you declare. Keep the bike's own motor insurance valid for the journey as well.

  • At delivery

Check the bike against the pickup note and your photographs before signing, and point out anything new while the crew is still there.

  • Handover

If someone else will hand over or receive the bike, tell us who when you book, and we will confirm what they need to have with them.

Good to Know

What a Bike Move Does Not Include

  • We do not ride your bike to the new address. It travels on a vehicle, standing upright and strapped at the frame.
  • Ride the tank down to reserve before pickup. A near empty tank is safer on a loaded vehicle.
  • We do not repair, service or start a bike that will not start. Tell us at booking so it is loaded the right way.
  • Helmets, jackets and tools travel in a carton or with you, never strapped to the bike.
  • RC transfer, address change and re-registration in a new state are yours to do, or an agent's.
