Bike Shifting in Kengeri Upanagara

Kengeri Upanagara is the Kannada name for the same planned town as Kengeri Satellite Town, and a lot of moves here never leave it. A family outgrows a portion and takes a bigger one a few roads away, often to be near the same school. The household goes on a small lorry. The scooter can go on the same lorry or on a carrier. And then there are the bicycles.

Families here usually have them: a child's first cycle with stabilisers, a teenager's geared bike, sometimes a parent's cycle for the morning walk to the market. They sit by the gate or under the stairs. On moving day they are remembered late. They don't fit easily in a lorry already full of furniture. They are awkward to wheel three roads along beside a scooter. Someone usually ends up riding one and pushing another, in traffic.

The simpler answer is to move them with the scooter. On a small run inside the town, the scooter goes up the ramp first and is strapped upright. The bicycles go in beside it, upright where they can be, against the side, with their handlebars turned in and their pedals padded so they don't scratch the scooter. A light bicycle can also lie flat on a folded blanket. The run takes minutes.

Locks matter more than people think. Children's cycles are often locked to a gate or a pipe with a small combination lock, and the code has been forgotten for years. Find the codes and keys for every cycle lock the evening before. A crew member with bolt cutters is the last resort, not a plan.

Prepare them like the scooter. Pump the tyres so they roll. Take off loose baskets, bells and water bottle holders that could fall. Remove a child seat from a parent's bicycle. Tie the stabilisers in if they flap.

Children notice these things. A child who sees their own bicycle carefully padded and loaded beside the family scooter takes the move better than one who finds it left by the gate at the old house. Let them help with the preparation, pumping their own tyres or taking off their own basket. It turns one more chore into part of the adventure.

If the bicycles are going to be replaced at the new house, because the children have outgrown them, sell or give them away before the move. A child's outgrown cycle is easy to pass on to a neighbour's younger child.

For very short moves, the scooter itself may not need a carrier. A move of three cross roads is a two minute ride for a parent who knows the town. A parent can ride it over in the evening. But the bicycles still need moving, and a small run for all of them at once is usually the easiest day.

If the family scooter is electric, an EV moving inside the town needs little thought: charge it the night before and check the new house has a socket near its parking. Some families also have a child's electric bicycle or a kick scooter with a battery; mention those at booking too, along with the main scooter's maker and battery arrangement.
