Bike Shifting in Horamavu Agara

Horamavu Agara keeps growing, and new buildings go up beside finished ones. On some roads, three sites share one approach. Often the only road to your building is also the road to a site next door. For residents, that means dust and noise. For a moving day, it means sharing a narrow, broken road with heavy lorries.

Construction sites run to a rhythm. Concrete mixers usually come early in the morning for a pour. Tipper lorries bring sand and aggregate at set hours. Steel and bricks arrive on flatbeds that block the road while they unload. Between those deliveries, the road is quiet. During them, it can be completely blocked for half an hour, and a carrier stuck behind a mixer is a carrier that can't reach your gate.

The road surface is the second issue. Heavy wheels break the tarmac into ruts and potholes that fill with mud in the rain. Nails, wire offcuts and broken glass fall from lorries and end up in those ruts. A bike pushed from your gate to a carrier parked on that road can pick up a nail in seconds. And a carrier driving through deep mud can get stuck.

Dust is a quieter problem. A bike parked near a site for months collects a fine grey layer of cement dust, which scratches paint if wiped dry. Rinse it with plain water a day before collection and let it dry, so the condition photographs show the real paint.

So find out the site's rhythm. Ask the site supervisor or the watchman at the site gate: when do the concrete mixers come, when are deliveries, and are there any big pours planned for your moving day? Most will tell you. Then book the bike's collection in a quiet window, usually mid morning or mid afternoon.

Weekends can be quieter, but not always. Some sites work seven days to meet a deadline, and Sunday pours are not unusual. Ask rather than assume.

Walk the road the day before. Look at where the carrier can stand without blocking the site's gate, and the path from your gate to it. Kick away any nails or wire you see. In the monsoon, check whether the road is passable at all, or whether the carrier should wait on the main road and the bike be pushed out.
