Bike Shifting in Subramanyapura

Subramanyapura has many rented flats, and the packers page describes a pattern that's become common: the landlord hands the flat to the next tenant on the day the previous one leaves. It saves the landlord a month's rent. It turns two ordinary moves into one tightly scheduled day.

The parking bay is part of that squeeze. In most buildings, each flat has one allotted bay or slot. On handover day, the outgoing tenant's bike is in it, and the incoming tenant arrives with their own scooter or car, often with a lorry of furniture behind them. If your bike is still in the bay, their vehicle has nowhere to go, the lorry blocks the gate and the whole morning backs up.

So on a same day handover, the bike leaves first.

Agree the timings with the landlord. Ask what time the new tenant is arriving. Then plan backwards: the bike out of the bay well before that, your household loaded and the lift free before their lorry comes.

Book the bike for early morning. The first slot of the day is usually right. If the bike goes before your household, collect it at seven or eight, and the bay is empty for the rest of the morning.

Or move the bike to the road the night before. If the bike can't be collected early, ride it out of the building the evening before and park it legally on the street or at a friend's place nearby, where the crew can collect it later.

Hand the bay back properly. Remove any lock, chain, mat or cover you left there. Sweep up any oil drip or dust. Take a photo of the empty bay for the landlord, and return any parking sticker, card or remote.

Tell the security desk. In apartment blocks, the security staff manage the gate and the lift on a busy morning. Tell them the bike's collection time and the new tenant's arrival time, so they can keep the gate clear.

Think about the landlord's inspection. On a same day handover, the landlord often walks through the flat with you early, then again with the new tenant. They may glance at the parking bay too. An oil stain, a broken tile or a nail in the wall where you hung a cover can come up in the deposit conversation. Sort them out during the week before handover.

And keep your own vehicles separate from the new tenant's. If they arrive with a scooter of their own while yours is still waiting for the carrier on the street outside, make sure the crew know which bike is yours. A photo of your bike and its number sent to the crew lead removes any doubt.

Share the lift fairly. If your household goes down while the new tenant's comes up, agree with the landlord who uses the lift when. A bike doesn't need the lift if it's parked at ground level, which keeps it out of the queue.

Plan for the morning running late. Handover mornings often slip: the landlord is late, the lift is slow, the new tenant's lorry arrives early. A bike that has already left at eight is one thing nobody has to think about when the rest of the day runs over.

At your new home, the same may be happening in reverse. If you're the incoming tenant somewhere else that day, ask whether the outgoing tenant's bike will be gone before yours arrives.

An electric scooter charged in the bay may have a cable or a wall socket arrangement there. Unplug and take the charger, and tell the landlord if the socket is yours or the building's. Mention the EV's make at booking.
