If there is fresh damage, point it out to the crew, see it entered on the delivery note, and photograph it there and then. Then report it to our office in writing within the time the policy allows. A claim raised at the door, with photographs, is quick to settle. One raised a week later, after the bike has been ridden, is much harder to prove.
Declared value matters too. If you declare a low value to save on the insurance, a genuine claim is settled against that low value. Declare what the bike is honestly worth.
Accessories deserve a word. A phone mount, a tank bag, a crash guard or a top box bolted on is part of the bike and is covered if declared. Anything clipped or hung on, a helmet on the mirror, a bag on the hook, is not, because it can fall off and should travel with you. If you aren't sure which is which, ask at pickup and have it noted.
