Bike Shifting in Kumaraswamy Layout
A lot of Kumaraswamy Layout's young residents live in paying guest rooms, and most of them ride a scooty. On the day the room is handed back, the scooty has to leave the PG compound too, and the warden decides when the gate opens.

Bike Shifting in Kumaraswamy Layout, Bangalore
Kumaraswamy Layout has a large paying guest population: students from the colleges along the ring road, young professionals starting their first jobs, people new to the city. The packers page explains why a PG move is a small job with an awkward edge. Half the furniture belongs to the owner, and the deposit depends on the handover.
The scooty sits right at that edge. It's yours, but it lives in the PG's compound or basement, under the warden's control. Many PGs lock the gate at night, keep a register of residents' vehicles and won't let a bike out without the warden's say so. On handover day, that matters.
Here's how to keep the bike's exit from becoming the reason the deposit is held.
Tell the warden early. As soon as you give notice, tell the warden or owner the day your room will be handed back and the hour the carrier will come for the bike. Ask whether the gate will be open then, and who has the key.
Clear the vehicle register. If the PG keeps a list of residents' vehicles, ask for your bike's number to be removed on the day it leaves. If you were given a parking sticker or token, hand it back.
Settle anything owed. Some PGs charge separately for parking or for charging an electric scooter. Clear those dues before the day, so nothing is set against your deposit.
Don't leave the bike after you've left. A bike left in a PG compound after the room is handed back becomes the owner's problem, and owners sometimes hold the deposit until it's collected. Arrange collection for the same day as the handover, or earlier.
Time the collection around the room inspection. The owner usually inspects the room, counts the furniture and checks for damage before returning the deposit. Book the bike for an hour before or after that, not during it. You'll want to be in the room when the owner is.
Separate your things from the PG's. A helmet, a cover, a lock chain or a charger may sit in a common area or a shared shoe rack. Collect them before the crew arrives.
Bike collections from Kumaraswamy Layout PGs are done by our crew, who are used to locked gates and wardens' schedules. You get one figure in writing after a short call or survey, and the scooty is our responsibility from the PG gate onward.
Our Kumaraswamy Layout packers page covers moving out of a PG room. This page is about the scooty in the PG's compound.
Think about your roommates, too. In a shared room, the bike's helmet may hang on a hook everyone uses, and a roommate may have borrowed your scooty for an errand that week. Ask for anything borrowed back a few days early, and check the scooty's condition yourself before the crew arrives, so any new scratch is noticed while the roommate is still around.
And mind the paperwork if the scooty is in a parent's name. Carry a copy of the RC and a short note from the parent, in case the warden or the new PG asks.
If you're moving to another PG, the same questions apply at the other end. Ask the new warden where residents' bikes park, whether there's a vehicle register, and what time the gate is open for a delivery. A new PG that has no space for your scooty is better found out before it arrives than after.
Leaving the city altogether when a course finishes? The scooty can make that trip by carrier while you go by train.
Scooter and Scooty Shifting in Kumaraswamy Layout
Most PG residents here ride a scooty, and for most PG residents, scooter and scooty shifting in Kumaraswamy Layout means talking to the warden first. Tell them the day and hour, ask for the gate to be open, clear any parking dues and your number from the vehicle register, and collect your helmet and cover from the common area.
EV Scooter Shifting in Kumaraswamy Layout
Some PGs let residents charge electric scooters from a shared socket, sometimes for a fee. Settle any charging dues, and don't leave the charger plugged in the common area. Let us know which EV it is, and ask the new PG where it can be charged.

Before Your Bike Is Collected in Kumaraswamy Layout
Fuel
Ride the tank down to reserve in the days before collection. A small amount is fine; a full tank is not wanted on a loaded vehicle.
Papers
Photocopies of the RC, the insurance policy and your photo ID travel with the bike. Keep the originals, especially the RC, with you. If the RC is not in your name, mention it when you book.
Condition record
Photograph the bike from every side and at the odometer. The crew also notes its condition at pickup, and you keep a copy of that note.
Insurance
Transit insurance is available on a value you declare. Keep the bike's own motor insurance valid for the journey as well.
At delivery
Check the bike against the pickup note and your photographs before signing, and point out anything new while the crew is still there.
Handover
If someone else will hand over or receive the bike, tell us who when you book, and we will confirm what they need to have with them.
What a Bike Move Does Not Include
- We do not ride your bike to the new address. It travels on a vehicle, standing upright and strapped at the frame.
- Ride the tank down to reserve before pickup. A near empty tank is safer on a loaded vehicle.
- We do not repair, service or start a bike that will not start. Tell us at booking so it is loaded the right way.
- Helmets, jackets and tools travel in a carton or with you, never strapped to the bike.
- RC transfer, address change and re-registration in a new state are yours to do, or an agent's.
