Bike Shifting in Cottonpet

Buyers taking possession of a new flat in Cottonpet make a snag list for the kitchen and bathrooms. Hardly anyone walks the parking. Yet that is where the bike will sleep, and a broken ramp edge, a blocked drain or a dead light is a problem every night. Add the parking to your snag list before the bike arrives.

Bike Shifting

Bike Shifting in Cottonpet, Bangalore

Cottonpet and the streets around it have new buildings going up between old ones, and families are taking possession of flats bought off plan. The advice they get is sensible: don't move in on possession day, use the gap to walk the flat with a snag list, and get the builder to fix things before the furniture arrives. Cracked tiles, leaking taps, doors that don't close.

The parking almost never gets the same attention. It is downstairs, it is shared, and it feels like the builder's or the association's problem. But your bike will live there every night, and its snags affect you directly.

Here is what to walk and check, with the bike in mind. Take a torch, a phone for photographs and, if you can, the bike's key, so you can picture it standing in each spot.

The ramp. Is the edge at the top finished, or is there a raised lip or a gap where it meets the road? A sharp lip jolts a bike's suspension and catches a scooter's floorboard every day. Is the surface grooved for grip, or smooth and slippery when wet?

The drain. Is there a drain at the bottom of the ramp, and does it actually take water? Pour a bucket down the ramp and watch. A blocked drain means your bike stands in water after every heavy rain.

The lights. Does every light in the parking work, including at your bay? Walk it after dark if you can. A bay in darkness is a bay where you scratch the bike against a pillar.

The bay itself. Is it marked and numbered, and is it the one in your sale agreement? Is there a pillar or pipe that will catch handlebars? Is the floor level, or sloping toward the drain?

The socket, if you ride an EV. Is there one, does it work, and whose meter is it on?

Security is worth a line on the list too. Is there a guard at the basement entrance yet, or a working boom barrier? Are there CCTV cameras, and are they recording? In a building where half the flats are still empty, a basement with no guard and no cameras is an easy target for anyone walking in. If security isn't in place yet, keep the bike at ground level near the gate for the first few weeks.

Photograph every snag, and send the list to the builder with the flat's snags, in writing. Builders are far more responsive before handover is fully complete.

Then plan the bike's arrival for after the worst snags are fixed, especially the drain and the lights. A builder who has promised to fix them 'next week' should be held to a date in writing.

The Cottonpet packers page explains builder handover and the snag list for the flat. This page adds the parking.

Scooters

Scooter and Scooty Shifting in Cottonpet

In new Cottonpet buildings, scooter and scooty shifting is affected most by the ramp lip and the drain, because scooters sit low. Check both carefully. Empty the scooter's boot before delivery, and park it in your own numbered bay from the first night.

Electric

EV Scooter Shifting in Cottonpet

For an electric scooter, add the socket to your snag list: does it exist, does it work, and is it on your meter? A socket that isn't connected yet is a snag the builder should fix. At booking, name the manufacturer and the battery type.

Intercity

Two Wheeler Transport from Cottonpet to Other Cities

Buyers moving into a new Cottonpet flat from another city send their bike ahead or after. Carriage for that is charged per kilometre, and the snag list should be walked before the bike lands. Two wheeler transport arriving at a building with unfinished parking is better delayed a week.

Before the Day

Getting Your Bike Ready in Cottonpet

During the possession gap, walk the parking with a snag list, not just the flat.

Check the ramp lip, the drain at the bottom, every light, your bay's marking and any pillar near it.

Pour a bucket of water down the ramp to test the drain.

Check whether there is a guard, a working barrier and recording cameras in the basement yet.

For an EV, test the socket with your own charger and ask whose meter it is on.

Send the parking snags to the builder in writing with the flat's list, and book the bike after they are fixed.

Moving the whole household too? Our packers and movers in Cottonpet page covers the house move, and a bike can travel on the same vehicle.

Checklist

Before Your Bike Is Collected in Cottonpet

  • Fuel

Ride the tank down to reserve in the days before collection. A small amount is fine; a full tank is not wanted on a loaded vehicle.

  • Papers

Photocopies of the RC, the insurance policy and your photo ID travel with the bike. Keep the originals, especially the RC, with you. If the RC is not in your name, mention it when you book.

  • Condition record

Photograph the bike from every side and at the odometer. The crew also notes its condition at pickup, and you keep a copy of that note.

  • Insurance

Transit insurance is available on a value you declare. Keep the bike's own motor insurance valid for the journey as well.

  • At delivery

Check the bike against the pickup note and your photographs before signing, and point out anything new while the crew is still there.

  • Handover

If someone else will hand over or receive the bike, tell us who when you book, and we will confirm what they need to have with them.

Good to Know

What a Bike Move Does Not Include

  • We do not ride your bike to the new address. It travels on a vehicle, standing upright and strapped at the frame.
  • Ride the tank down to reserve before pickup. A near empty tank is safer on a loaded vehicle.
  • We do not repair, service or start a bike that will not start. Tell us at booking so it is loaded the right way.
  • Helmets, jackets and tools travel in a carton or with you, never strapped to the bike.
  • RC transfer, address change and re-registration in a new state are yours to do, or an agent's.
