Bike, Scooter and Two Wheeler Shifting · Chikkajala, Bangalore

Bike Shifting in Chikkajala

On the airport corridor, a lot of the two wheelers that need moving are not commuter bikes at all. They are the family moped with a steel carrier behind the seat, the one that took milk cans and sacks to the road for years. When a Chikkajala household leaves land that has changed hands, that moped usually goes too, and a moped like that asks for a few more minutes of care than a scooter.

Bike Shifting

Bike Shifting in Chikkajala, Bangalore

Chikkajala sits on the airport road corridor between Yelahanka and the trumpet interchange, and over the last few years its farmland has become the ground north Bangalore is growing into. Acquisition notices, new projects and land sales have changed what people talk about here. For many village households the result is a move, sometimes a planned one and sometimes a move with a date somebody else set, and bike transport for the family moped becomes one line in the plan for the new address.

A working moped is built differently from a city scooter. It has a carrier bolted behind the seat, sometimes a second rack in front, and years of loads have usually bent a bracket or loosened a bolt somewhere. It may have a can holder welded on, a rope permanently knotted to the frame, a sack of feed still sitting on the rack from last week. None of that makes it hard to move. It just means the crew has to look at it before touching it, and so do you.

The rule we work to is simple. Whatever is fitted to the moped stays fitted, because we do not unbolt parts, and whatever is sitting on it comes off before we arrive, because nothing is tied onto a bike we carry. So the carrier travels on the moped, padded where it could rub against another item on the vehicle, and the cans, sacks, ropes and tools go into the household load or into your own hands. If a bracket is already cracked, we write that down at pickup rather than finding it at the far end.

Land moves around here also tend to carry the whole household at once, and the moped is often the last thing anybody thinks about. It gets left leaning on a wall while the cupboards and the grain drums go first. Put it on the list at the first call. Our Devanahalli branch is minutes up the corridor, so the survey is short and nobody has to drive out from the city to see a moped and a scooter in a courtyard.

The newer side of Chikkajala moves differently. People renting along the corridor for airport belt jobs mostly have a geared bike or a scooter, parked in a building or on the road, and their moves are short and quick. We cover both kinds from the same branch. The village moped simply gets a few more minutes of looking at on the day, because what is bolted on and what is loose is not always obvious until somebody checks.

On price, a moped costs no more to move than a scooter across the city. Within Bangalore we quote Rs 2,500 at the bottom and rarely above Rs 5,500, and when the moped rides on the same vehicle as the household we start from Rs 2,999 for the whole small job. The figure comes in writing before the day, with a GST invoice after. A carrier or rack that stays fitted does not change it.

Scooters

Scooter and Scooty Shifting in Chikkajala

Plenty of Chikkajala households have a scooter as well as the moped, usually the younger members' ride to Yelahanka or the airport side. The scooter is the easier of the two. It gets its own spot on the vehicle, held down by straps through the frame, its plastic body wrapped against rubbing.

If the scooty has a basket or a hook for bags, treat it like the moped carrier. It stays on, but empty. Clear the under seat space too, since a box of receipts or a tiffin rattling around in there is the sort of thing that goes missing between two addresses.

Electric

EV Scooter Shifting in Chikkajala

Electric scooters are newer on this side, mostly with families who have moved into the corridor's recent developments. We carry an EV with its battery, so at booking tell us the model and whether the battery lifts out or is fixed in the floor.

If the scooter has been charged from a plug in the house or a shed, that plug stays where it is. Plan where the scooter will charge at the new address before it arrives, especially if the move is to a rented place on the corridor where the owner has not been asked yet.

Intercity

Two Wheeler Transport from Chikkajala to Other Cities

When land money settles a family somewhere else, the move is sometimes out of Karnataka altogether, to relatives or to a town the family came from. A moped or motorcycle travels that distance on a carrier the whole way, never ridden, and the route price is written down per kilometre before collection. Bigger distances fall in a lower rate per kilometre than short hops.

For the paperwork, carry the RC and insurance originals yourself. A set of copies goes with the moped in case anyone asks on the road.

Charges

Bike Shifting Charges in Chikkajala

These are our standard bands. The survey or the booking call fixes where your bike lands inside them, in writing.

  • Village moped with a bolted carrier, local move

The rack stays on and is padded. No extra for it.

  • Moped riding along with a land move household

    ₹2,999 onwards

One collection, so the moped is not left behind at the old house.

  • Corridor renter's scooter going to Yelahanka

    ₹2,500 – ₹5,500

A short run, easiest after the morning traffic.

  • Moped held while the new house is finished

    After Survey

Priced once we know the number of weeks.

  • Family moped going to relatives in a neighbouring state

    ₹15 – ₹20 per KM

Copies of the papers travel with it, originals with you.

  • Motorcycle heading to a distant hometown

    ₹20 – ₹28 per KM

Long routes carry the lowest per kilometre band.

Before the Day

Getting Your Bike Ready in Chikkajala

Walk around the moped a week before the move and decide what is fitted and what is loose. The carrier, a welded can holder and the crash bar are fitted. The rope, the sacks, the bungee cords and the spanner hanging from the handlebar are loose, and they need a home that is not the moped.

If the carrier is cracked or wobbling, say so when you call. We will not remove it, but we will pad it well and note its condition, so nobody argues about it later.

Use the moped for errands in the final days until the needle sits at reserve; there is no need to drain anything. A moped tank is small, so this usually happens by itself if you keep using it for errands.

On a land move, the family's paperwork is often in several places. Keep the moped's RC and insurance with the land papers you are already carrying, not packed in a trunk.

Corridor traffic toward the trumpet interchange comes in waves. A mid morning collection from the village lanes is usually the easiest, and if the lane behind the corridor is too tight for our vehicle, the crew wheels the moped out to where the vehicle is waiting.

Moving the whole household too? Our packers and movers in Chikkajala page covers the house move, and a bike can travel on the same vehicle.

Checklist

Before Your Bike Is Collected in Chikkajala

  • Fuel

Ride the tank down to reserve in the days before collection. A small amount is fine; a full tank is not wanted on a loaded vehicle.

  • Papers

Photocopies of the RC, the insurance policy and your photo ID travel with the bike. Keep the originals, especially the RC, with you. If the RC is not in your name, mention it when you book.

  • Condition record

Photograph the bike from every side and at the odometer. The crew also notes its condition at pickup, and you keep a copy of that note.

  • Insurance

Transit insurance is available on a value you declare. Keep the bike's own motor insurance valid for the journey as well.

  • At delivery

Check the bike against the pickup note and your photographs before signing, and point out anything new while the crew is still there.

  • Handover

If someone else will hand over or receive the bike, tell us who when you book, and we will confirm what they need to have with them.

Good to Know

What a Bike Move Does Not Include

  • We do not ride your bike to the new address. It travels on a vehicle, standing upright and strapped at the frame.
  • Ride the tank down to reserve before pickup. A near empty tank is safer on a loaded vehicle.
  • We do not repair, service or start a bike that will not start. Tell us at booking so it is loaded the right way.
  • Helmets, jackets and tools travel in a carton or with you, never strapped to the bike.
  • RC transfer, address change and re-registration in a new state are yours to do, or an agent's.
FAQ

Bike Shifting in Chikkajala: Questions People Ask

The same as a scooter. A local move starts at Rs 2,500 and a moped almost never needs the top of the city band, which ends at Rs 5,500. The figure is confirmed in writing after we have seen it. The carrier staying fitted does not add anything to the price.

No. We do not unbolt fitted parts, so the carrier travels on the moped. The crew pads it where it could touch other items on the vehicle, and its condition is written down before loading.

Please take them off. Nothing is tied onto a bike we carry, so cans, sacks, ropes and tools go into the household load or with you. The moped should be empty of everything that is not bolted on.

Not for moving it. Tell us at the first call so the crew knows. The crack is written into the pickup record, the rack is padded so it does not rub, and the moped arrives with the rack in the same state.

Yes, and that is usually the sensible plan. The moped rides on the same vehicle, which keeps the job to one collection and prices it from Rs 2,999 as a small job alongside the household.

Yes. Our Devanahalli branch is minutes up the airport corridor, so surveys and collections here are local work rather than a long run out from the city.

Yes. Scooters and geared bikes from the newer buildings are quick, ordinary jobs. We collect from the parking area and the crew walks the scooter to the vehicle.

Yes, as long as the basket is empty. It stays fitted and gets wrapped. Clear the under seat space as well before the crew arrives.

On the vehicle with its battery. Tell us the model and the battery type when you book, and plan the charging point at the new address before the scooter gets there.

Yes. It travels on a carrier the whole way and the rate per kilometre is fixed on paper before collection. Originals stay in your bag; photocopies ride along with the moped.

The crew walks it. If the vehicle cannot turn into the lane behind the corridor, it waits on the wider road and the moped is wheeled out to it.

Mid morning usually works best, after the first wave of airport and Bellary Road traffic. Early evening is harder on the corridor.

No. We never ride a customer's bike, however short the distance. It is wheeled by hand, which on a moped is easy.

Yes. It can be wheeled onto the vehicle even if it will not start. Pump the tyres if you can, because a flat tyre makes the walk to the vehicle harder, and tell us it does not run.

No, we do not handle fuel. Keep it at reserve for the move and fill it yourself once it has arrived.

Yes. We have storage in Bangalore, priced after we know how long, and weekly is fine. That helps when a land move happens before the new house is finished.

Someone who can hand over the keys and look at the condition record with the crew. Tell us at booking who will be there, and at the other end, so we can confirm what they will need.

Yes. Both are short local runs from Chikkajala and fall in the city band.

Yes. It is taken on the value you declare. For an old working moped, declare what it would realistically cost you to replace it.

Yes. Both are loaded in one visit, and each moped gets a separate pickup record and a separate line in the quote.

Call the branch as soon as you know. We will look for a new slot, and if the house has to be empty first, storage can hold the moped for a while.

No. RC transfer and re-registration are not something we handle. Keep the papers safe and take them to the RTO yourself when the time comes.

Not if it is padded, which the crew does before loading. Sharp edges on a working rack are the main thing they check.

Not tied to it. Pack loose spares in a carton with the household, labelled, and they will travel alongside the moped rather than on it.

Yes, motorcycles of every size. A heavy bike or one with fairings may need a survey first, and we will tell you if it does.

Call +91 90908 28210 or ask for the Devanahalli branch. Tell us it is a moped with a carrier, give the move date and the new address, and the quote comes in writing.
