Bike Shifting in Kannur

This hub covers Kannur and the far north: Thalassery on the coast, Taliparamba and Payyanur inland and to the north, Mattannur by the airport, and Kasaragod at the top of the state, close to Mangaluru. A bike crossing the area rarely goes far. What takes care is everything around the move.

Some bikes work for a living. In Thalassery, the family scooter often runs the bakery's deliveries too. A move is the moment to time it to the shop's closing and reopening, take off the delivery box, and ask whether its private policy really covers that use.

Some owners are far away. Payyanur bikes often belong to someone working in the Gulf, on a different clock and long shifts. One message window a day, decisions in writing and a relative with clearly defined authority keep the move straight.

Some moves keep a sacred timetable. In Taliparamba, the astrologer may set the day and the hour, with rahukalam avoided, and the bike's collection fits that window rather than the carrier's habit.

Some cross languages. Around Kasaragod, the bike's condition is marked on a printed outline drawing instead of written in words, so any crew member and any receiver can read it.

And some look at the sky. In Mattannur, families flying far ask whether the bike can fly too. Air cargo exists on some routes, but fuel draining, battery rules, packing and two cargo terminals make the road the better answer for nearly everyone.

A word on paperwork. Check whose name is on the RC, whether the insurance is current and covers how the bike is used, and whether a transfer is due if the bike is changing hands.

A word on people. Many Kannur bikes are received by someone other than the owner: a relative at home while the owner is abroad, a sibling in another city, a neighbour who agreed to sign.
